This Gigue closes Bach’s second English Suite with fast, tightly woven contrapuntal writing.

Practise each hand separately to clarify the entries, then combine them without weighing down the pulse. The repeats offer natural checkpoints for refining the articulation.

The main challenge is to preserve the direction of each phrase as motifs pass from one voice to another. Precise attacks and restrained pedalling allow the contrapuntal design to remain audible without making the playing sound rigid.
