About this work
The Vivace of the second Trio Sonata immediately sets all three voices in motion. Motifs circulate between the hands while the pedal part traces its own path. The task is not to accompany a melody but to coordinate three articulations so that every response remains intelligible.
The central Largo opens a more songful space where note lengths, harmonic stresses and cadences become perceptible. The final Allegro tightens the imitations again and requires a solid pulse. Contrast should come from character and touch without breaking stylistic continuity between movements.
Study the bass on the pedals first as a genuine instrumental part. Add each hand separately, then seek a legato compatible with clarity of voices. Related but differentiated registrations will help the upper lines converse without turning either one into a permanent soloist.
