About this work
The Andante of the third Trio Sonata moves with a deceptive suppleness: the two hands answer one another while the pedals retain an independent line. Apparent calm rests on demanding coordination of articulations and releases. Every voice needs to remain easy to follow.
The Adagio e dolce places cantabile at the centre, with phrases extending above a measured bass. The final Vivace changes momentum and multiplies imitations. Cadences organise this activity; they should breathe without interrupting continuity or slowing at every arrival.
Sing each part before playing it and decide where its own stresses lie. Then combine pedals with the left hand, followed by pedals with the right, before assembling the full trio. A transparent registration and patient tempo will reveal the dialogue better than excessively pronounced sonic contrasts.
