The second Bourrée from English Suite No. 2 brings a brighter contrast after the first. Its writing appears more vertical, with clearly shaped chords and inner voices, yet the bass continues to shift the harmony and sustain the motion of the dance.

The two repeated sections require the voice leading beneath chord positions to be heard. Locate common notes, suspensions and cadences instead of moving the hands in blocks. The rhythm remains restrained; phrase inflections and changes of register provide the relief.

Practise the outer voices alone, then add inner notes without increasing weight. Prepare each chord close to the keyboard and lighten its release to retain the pulse. If the first Bourrée follows again, keep dynamics and articulation capable of making that return natural rather than theatrical.
