About this work
This Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms is offered in a version for piano four hands. The title gives the key as F-sharp minor; do not confuse it with the versions for solo piano or orchestra that also appear in the catalogue.
The PDF has 4 pages and divides the music between primo and secondo. The two pianists must therefore read from the same edition and decide in advance how to handle page turns. No MIDI file is associated with this page.
Practise the breaks in tempo and the returns first, without seeking a theatrical effect in every bar. The secondo should keep the bass clear while the primo articulates the themes without hardening the octaves. Rehearse slowly where the hands draw close to avoid improvised gestures. The file carries a public-domain notice, but no detailed edition information is recorded.
