This first version transfers to the piano material by Bach whose voices retain their independence. The difficulty is not merely digital: one must decide which line advances, which answers and which supports the harmony.
Practise the bass with the upper voice, then add the inner part without giving it equal weight. Entries become clearer when their beginnings are gently defined and their endings genuinely directed.
Pedal may extend resonance but must never manufacture counterpoint. Hold important notes with the fingers and choose a tempo at which articulations remain distinct even in the crowded passages.
