Play each entry first with the bass that accompanies it. Mark sustained notes and passages where a voice changes hands; the counterpoint must remain continuous despite the keyboard geography.
Use little pedal and vary the attack to distinguish the layers. A stable pulse will allow ornaments and cadences to breathe without turning the piece into a rigid exercise.
