About this work
The flurries of notes suggest continuous rain, yet the piece retains hidden melodies and very precise changes of light. Speed must not erase those reference points or make the whole texture equally brilliant.
Locate the singing line and bass before practising the inner figures. Play the arrivals alone: they show where a run is leading and where the phrase suddenly changes direction.
Keep the wrist mobile and the pedal light. Accents need to flash without hardening the hand; clear contrast among closely placed passages will give the return of motion greater relief.
