The C-major Allegro in 4/4 is built from a clear gesture: a short upbeat leads into repeated notes, then a brief scale restarts the phrase. Primo gives the pattern its lively character while Secondo alternates isolated bass notes and chords. If the accompaniment becomes heavy, the entire piece stalls; its interest lies instead in the shared spring between melodic impulse and harmonic reply.

Two repeated sections distribute the material economically. The opening motif returns in different registers, forte chords momentarily interrupt the motion, and scales restore continuity. Diabelli also moves part of the figure into the middle register, requiring both pianists to adjust their place in the sound. The cadence does not seek a grand effect: it tightens the same elements into a direct conclusion.

Practise the repeated notes with a short, relaxed action rather than accenting every one. Secondo should prepare each chord change before hearing Primo, because a slightly late chord weighs down the next upbeat. Rehearse once without dynamics, then restore the piano-forte oppositions without changing articulation. In scales, agree on the destination: the final note already belongs to the next phrase and must not become a brake.
