Pièces mélodiques Op. 149 n°06
About this work
The main Allegro treats 3/4 as a lively frame, with repeated chords in Secondo and a more connected melody in Primo. After this opening section in C major, the Trio moves to E-flat major and noticeably softens the colour. The piece therefore forms a small movement with a return: the Trio does not close independently, but sends the players back to the beginning with Da Capo al fine.
In the Allegro, both parts alternate firm accents and piano replies. The Trio lengthens its slurs, moves the line into the middle register and leaves more space among the chords. This change does not necessarily require a slower tempo; it comes from articulation and dynamics. On returning, the opening material must recover its profile without sounding harsher after the Trio’s gentler colour.
First rehearse the join between the Trio’s last bar and the opening of the Allegro. Both pianists should hear the upbeat internally before restarting. In repeated chords, agree on a common length and release the keys early enough for the 3/4 to breathe. The Trio benefits from practice without pedal so that the fingers create the connections. At the Da Capo, keep the same tempo but adjust the colour: the return is a recognition, not a mechanical restart.
What the document containsDocument: The document contains 3 pages in PDF format. A MIDI file also helps locate the continuity and entries.
