Pièces mélodiques Op. 149 n°15

About this work

The D-major Andante cantabile in 4/4 is more developed than the preceding exercises. An upbeat opens a flexible phrase in Primo while Secondo unfolds bass notes and arpeggios that give the harmony real direction. The melody changes register several times, and the parts draw together in full chords before recovering a more open texture.

The dynamic trajectory is carefully built. After a piano opening, a crescendo poco a poco gathers energy across several lines towards forte and then fortissimo. A return to dolce restores distance between the voices and leads to pianissimo. Secondo’s arpeggios are therefore not uniform machinery: they must announce changes of colour and sustain tension without covering the upper line.

Divide the crescendo into stages and mark the intended dynamic at each new phrase. Secondo can practise the arpeggios in harmonic groups with clean pedal changes while Primo fixes the melodic high points. At shared chords, seek simultaneity before power. The return to dolce should retain the tempo and change only the attack. In the closing pianissimo measures, keep the bass present: the music recedes, but its harmonic architecture does not disappear.

What the document containsDocument: The document contains 4 pages in PDF format. A MIDI file also helps locate the continuity and entries.
