The F-major Andante cantabile in 4/4 superimposes two clearly defined layers. Secondo unfolds almost continuous semiquavers above a bass that changes direction, while Primo sings in broader values with appoggiaturas. The piece works only if the lower motion remains flexible: over-accented machinery would turn the song into a synchronisation exercise.

The repeats vary harmony and dynamics while preserving this division of roles. Dolce reduces the weight of the line, a crescendo then draws the parts closer, and the final pianissimo clears the cadence. Primo occasionally adopts Secondo’s mobile rhythm, temporarily changing the balance and demanding more horizontal listening between the registers.

Secondo can practise the semiquavers by grouping each harmony rather than controlling every note separately. Give a slight direction towards bass changes and limit the pedal. Primo places each appoggiatura without delaying its resolution. During the crescendo, both players grow together while preserving the difference between accompaniment and song. In pianissimo, keep every subdivision active: calm comes from touch and coordinated breathing, not from a collapsing pulse.
