This E-major Andante in 4/4 returns to the idea of a mobile part beneath a broader line. Secondo unfolds linked groups of semiquavers punctuated by widely spaced bass notes. Primo, marked dolce, proceeds through sustained notes, small intervals and livelier replies. The two layers should remain distinct: continuous motion supplies fluency, while the upper part determines the direction of the phrase.

Two repeated sections develop that relationship. The first establishes a piano sonority and several releases at the ends of motifs. The second widens the register, alternates forte and piano, then carries a long decrescendo towards the cadence. Secondo sometimes changes its pattern beneath a sustained Primo note; these moments expose the harmony and should not pass unnoticed. Later accents lend weight to the close without breaking the prevailing gentleness.

Secondo can practise each group as one gesture with a clear destination and an independent bass. Primo should prepare sustained notes by listening to the harmony changing underneath. Combine the parts without pedal to settle note lengths, then add restrained pedalling at harmonic changes. In the second repeat, let forte broaden the sound without altering the pulse. The final decrescendo must preserve a line all the way into silence.
