Fugue en Sol mineur KV 154/385k
About this work
The Fugue in G minor K.154/385k, sketched by Mozart in 1782, opens with a compact, darkly profiled subject. Successive entries quickly occupy the whole keyboard while countersubjects maintain continuous motion around longer notes.
Mozart did not finish the piece. The playable version in this document incorporates a continuation by Simon Sechter, who develops the existing elements and guides the voices to a closing cadence without concealing the fragmentary nature of the source.
Isolate the subject in every register, then add one voice at a time while preserving its articulation. Sustained notes should remain audible within the moving figures; mark the start of the continuation so that its voice-leading can be compared with the original fragment.
