About this work

After the minor-key variation, Mozart suddenly opens the sound space again. Short chords appear high above isolated bass notes before the material moves between the hands. This contrast of registers gives the fourth variation its bright character.

Place each bass note without carrying its weight into the following silence. For repeated chords, stay close to the keys and prepare the sideways move before the final repetition. When the left hand takes over the melody, reduce the right hand immediately so that the change of plane is heard naturally.

Dynamic oppositions work best when they remain clear but brief, always contained within the phrase. Check large leaps separately, then restore their rhythmic context. The MIDI file locates the exchanges; the PDF shows articulation and the exact geography of the registers.
