The Menuetto is the second movement of the Piano Sonata in A major K. 331. After the theme and variations of the first movement, Mozart retains a dance metre but sharpens the contrasts: the chordal opening alternates with rapid lines, shifts of register and lighter answers.

The trio changes colour and creates more dialogue between the hands. Its detached bass supports a more singing upper line before the indicated return of the Menuetto. Repeats shape the whole: they offer a second opportunity to clarify articulation and dynamics rather than mechanically reproduce the first pass.

Keep the first beat present without turning the minuet into a march. In passagework, aim for evenness and a clear arrival at cadences. The trio needs a light bass and supple legato in the right hand. On returning to the Menuetto, recover its exact tempo while giving the repeats a stronger direction.
