Symphony K.45 exploits D major in more brilliant writing. The opening Molto allegro alternates full-orchestra chords, violin passagework and wind answers. Brass reinforces points of arrival and gives the returns a festive breadth.
The Andante withdraws part of that brilliance to favour strings and continuity of phrase. The Menuetto with Trio restores collective stresses, after which the final Molto allegro quickens exchanges between sections and tightens the cadences.
In the first movement, make the brass a colour of punctuation rather than a constant volume. The Andante needs an even bass and coordinated releases. For the Menuetto and finale, place upbeats together and keep violin passagework articulated enough to remain audible within the tuttis.
