About this work
Symphony K.110 in G major uses four clearly differentiated movements. The opening Allegro advances through orchestral blocks, string passagework and wind answers. Motifs move rapidly between sections, giving the phrase more relief than a simple alternation of tutti and accompaniment.
The Andante establishes longer lines and regular motion. The Menuetto with Trio explores dance stresses and changes of density. The final Allegro returns to lively writing in which repeats and cadences must remain clear despite rhythmic continuity.
Work on the first movement’s contrasts without altering the pulse at every dynamic change. In the Andante, bring out the inner parts that complete the harmony. The Menuetto needs a shared upbeat; the finale will gain transparency if passagework is first rehearsed by section, then combined at a moderate speed.
