Symphony K.114 begins with an Allegro moderato in A major whose measured pace reveals details of the orchestration. Strings set the motifs in motion, after which winds extend, colour or mark their points of arrival without interrupting continuity.
The Andante develops more connected phrases and contained dynamics. The Menuetto with Trio reorganises the balance between sections around dance stresses. The final Molto allegro increases rhythmic activity and circulates brief cells towards the closing cadences.
Do not hurry the Allegro moderato: its clarity comes from relationships between motifs, not from an effect of speed. In the Andante, control releases and resolutions. The finale needs light bows, active bass lines and precisely placed wind answers.
