Symphony K.124 in G major opens with a lively but firmly articulated Allegro. Collective chords establish the key, then strings develop more mobile figures to which the winds respond in touches. Returns provide the movement’s framework.
The Andante slows the pace and highlights sustained lines. The Menuetto with Trio introduces contrasts of dance and texture. The final Presto is brief: repeated figures, changes of register and closely spaced cadences produce a very direct conclusion.
