About this work
Symphony K.134 in A major draws its colour from two flutes, two horns and strings. In the Allegro, the flutes extend the upper lines rather than merely doubling the violins, while the horns consolidate cadences and changes of plane.
The Andante broadens the breathing and highlights connected phrases. The Menuetto with Trio restores dance stresses and a more contrasting texture. The final Allegro circulates brief motifs among the sections and gradually tightens the points of arrival.
First balance flutes and first violins so that each colour remains identifiable. Keep a supple bass beneath sustained notes in the Andante. The Menuetto needs a shared upbeat; the finale will remain clear if passagework is lightly articulated and the horns retain genuine dynamic reserve.
