About this work
Symphony K.200 in C major opens with an Allegro spiritoso in which strings sustain continuous activity beneath wind punctuation. Motifs are often brief, yet their movement between registers gives breadth to the form.
The Andante establishes broader breathing. The Menuetto Allegretto with Trio contrasts collective stresses with a lighter central section. The final Presto tightens the figures, multiplies repetitions and drives the orchestra towards very firm cadences.
First settle the relationship between bass lines and violin passagework in the opening movement. In the Andante, do not let accompaniment interrupt the lines. The Menuetto needs a genuine three-beat measure; the Presto will remain clear if upbeats are shared and articulations brief without becoming dry.
