About this work
D.790 gathers 12 Ländler that are more developed than simple ballroom miniatures. The first, marked Deutsches Tempo, passes a connected line over repeated chords; later numbers introduce offbeat entries, inner voices and chromatic shifts.
The sixth builds a peak with tremolos and tightly packed chords. The seventh relaxes into Poco più lento, after which the final numbers alternate lighter textures with more forceful writing. The twelfth closes the cycle through continuous arpeggios and a mobile bass.
Mark repeats and character changes before choosing an overall tempo. On the denser pages, separate bass, melody and inner voices; pedal may connect the harmony, but it must not blur syncopations or articulation.
