Divertissements Op. 2 n°3

The third Divertissement, Op. 2, is an Andantino in 2/4 opening in D minor. The sixth string is lowered to D, giving the open basses a deep foundation. Melody moves among chords and arpeggios before a Maggiore episode turns to D major: the same instrument suddenly becomes brighter without changing pulse.

Repeats, first and second endings and dense textures require attentive reading. Some chords sustain an upper note while the bass moves. In arpeggios, the hierarchy of voices matters more than overall volume; the major mode needs greater clarity rather than simply greater force.

Tune the sixth string to D and locate the fingerings that use its resonance. Practise minor and major sections separately with the same inner beat. Reduce chords to their outer voices before restoring inner notes. Prepare both endings of each repeat so that the change of route causes no hesitation.
