The Blue Danube Waltz Op. 314

About this work

The Blue Danube, Op.314, began as a waltz with chorus before becoming one of Johann Strauss II’s best-known orchestral works. This piano reduction isolates an immediately recognisable theme and its triple-time accompaniment.

The bass establishes the first beat while light chords on beats two and three maintain the rotation. The upper line must keep its sweep above that regular mechanism, with shaped repetitions rather than identical hammering.

Practise the left hand alone first, clearly separating bass from chords. Add the upper line without rushing upbeats, then pace crescendos across several bars; the waltz’s suppleness depends more on rebound than on rubato.

What the document containsDocument: The document contains 1 pages in PDF format. A MIDI file also helps locate the continuity and entries.
