About this work
Der Friede sei mit dir survives only in copies made after Bach’s death. Its four movements may have been assembled from two liturgical contexts: the central numbers seem connected with the Purification, while the opening recitative and final chorale frame the sequence for Easter.
The work’s centre is the bass aria with chorale. Above an extended solo-violin line, the bass sings Welt, ade while the soprano states the chorale tune, doubled by oboe. A second bass recitative then leads to Hier ist das rechte Osterlamm.
Accept the composite character instead of imposing an artificial continuity. In the aria, the violin needs direction without covering the bass; the soprano chorale should remain calm and exactly placed. Give both recitatives a related diction so that they frame the expansive central movement.

The 14-page full score contains all four movements of the posthumously transmitted version; the uncertainty concerns their historical assembly. The historical record marks the work and file as public domain but does not document the editor or exact provenance of this copy. The file preserved by LesPartitions.info can be compared with the reference catalogue. Following that check, LesPartitions.info separates established facts from information that remains incomplete.
