About this work
Ich habe meine Zuversicht sets a text by Picander for the Twenty-first Sunday after Trinity and was probably composed in 1728 or soon afterwards. The cantata is not fully preserved. Only fragments of its opening sinfonia survive; the edition reconstructs it from the concerto movement also known through BWV 1052.
After that opening with obbligato organ, the tenor aria Ich habe meine Zuversicht brings oboe, strings and continuo around a statement of trust. The bass recitative leads to the alto aria Unerforschlich ist die Weise, where obbligato organ dialogues with cello. An accompanied soprano recitative prepares the chorale Auf meinen lieben Gott.
Treat the sinfonia as a documented reconstruction, not as text fully transmitted with the cantata. The organ should remain concertante without covering the strings. In both arias, keep a stable pulse and direct diction; the final chorale should sound like the point of certainty after the harmonic detours.
