Fantaisie chorale en Do mineur Op. 80 - 3 : Allegro, ma non troppo Choral Finale
About this work
The choral finale finally gives the theme words, first entrusted to vocal soloists and then expanded to the choir. Piano and orchestra do not disappear behind the voices: they continue varying the motif and directing changes of character.
The collective challenge lies at the thresholds. A vocal entrance needs to grow from the preceding instrumental variation; a change of tempo must retain a shared subdivision. Identify which sections double the voices and which add an independent line.
In rehearsal, establish consonants, breaths and releases before adding full volume. The piano needs to remain articulated without covering the text. Keep dynamic and rhythmic reserve for the final Presto, whose excitement depends above all on coordinated attacks.
