Danse hongroise n°07 en La majeur (4 mains)

About this work

The document preserved on the site titles the seventh Hungarian Dance “in A major” and indeed carries three sharps in its key signature. The reference catalogue, however, lists the original piano four-hand version in F major. This discrepancy must remain explicit: the PDF represents a transposition or derivative edition whose source is unidentified, not the original key described by the catalogue.

In this file, the Allegretto sets highly mobile motifs against molto sostenuto passages. Scales, triplets, chords and short calls pass between both parts, with several poco a poco crescendos, ritardandos and returns in tempo. The 55 bars are compact, yet the constant exchange of roles requires each player to know the other’s material.

Practise the slowings with a shared pulse, then rehearse recoveries without pedal. The secondo prepares chords and basses that provide support; the primo must not rush runs as they rise. Whenever a figure crosses from one part to the other, shape it as a single continuous line. Transposition does not alter this underlying dialogue.

What the document containsDocument: The document contains 4 pages in PDF format. No MIDI file is currently attached to this historical record. The four-page PDF gives 55 bars in A major in separate secondo and primo parts; the reference catalogue places the original four-hand version in F major. The historical file names neither the editor nor the author of this transposition. The IMSLP catalogue lists the original piano four-hand work in F major; the difference in key prevents this PDF from being treated unreservedly as the original edition. The file preserved by LesPartitions.info can be compared with the reference catalogue. Following that check, LesPartitions.info separates established facts from information that remains incomplete.
